Templeux le Guerard British CWGC Cemetery
This pretty cemetery beside the road near Roisel contained a surprise; we hadn't expected to come accross the final resting place of Ian Fleming's father. Valentine Fleming was a major in C Squadron of the Queen's Own Oxfordshire Hussars. He died at the age of 35 on 20th May 1917. He was a recipient of the D S O and was twice Mentioned in Despatches.
He was the son of Robert Fleming; husband of Evelyn C. Fleming, of 118, Cheyne Walk, Chelsea, London. Member of Parliament for South Oxon, and, most notably, father of Ian Fleming the creator of James Bond. His grave is in plot II, row E, grave number 40.
